Within Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, we have already created partnerships and delivery mechanisms that can easily be adapted to fulfil the role required for our LEP.
Our LEP Strategy is now complete. Consultation on this Strategy to 2020 took place during May 2012 and was launched on 28 June 2012.
In preparing this strategy, extensive consultation took place with businesses and other stakeholders across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly - throughout, we received a clear and consistent message about the importance of prioritising employment and skills. Hence, we have now formed a Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Employment and Skills Board which is ready to oversee the valuable work required to make a difference in this area.
The Employment and Skills Board is an employer led partnership that brings public, private and voluntary sector employers together with education and training providers; supported by the Local Authorities, JobCentre Plus and the Skills Funding Agency. The Board is chaired by Gaynor Coley, a LEP Board Director and Managing Director of The Eden Project with coordination and administrative support provided by Cornwall Council.
Our Terms of Reference and Constitution are available and the Board is currently developing the Employment and Skills Strategy for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
